Art transports me. Creating art brings me peace and freedom. I let everything go and art flows in watercolor, monoprint, or collage. I hope that people are drawn into the life of the artwork. I am inspired by other artist and their techniques. All art is energizing. Nature, colors, textures, papers and shapes activate my creativity. Watercolors always seemed a controlled environment to me, but letting my imagination go creates pictures with hidden stories. The feel of the brushes on the paper and letting the color flow is like watching a vibrant river. Collage is an adventure with found items and colors in a theme that jump onto to the paper. Textures, colors and objects emerge from metals, leaves, flower petals, papers and fabrics which create images to get lost in. Inks, forms and plates for monoprints tell stories of protectors, landscapes, and life. I’ve been drawing or creating some form of art from the age of four years old. I first drew pictures in my brother’s art books. Ceramics, wood sculptures, college, paper Mache, metal sculptures, pen & ink, pencil drawings and graphic arts is my background. I knew I was artistic but I didn’t know what to do with it until my high school art teacher counseled me for college. In the early seventies most artists were starving so I worked in graphic arts in one form or other, most of my adult life. I painted while on my breaks at work and co workers would request paintings. I received a few commissions, but kept my day job. Now after raising a family and having more time to pursue my art I am taking classes and entering shows. I feel that art is always evolving and that painting gives new breath to an artist. Create something every day. a.jacobson art studio alpj511@verizon.net 909-241-2131
